Saber Interactive developing an action RPG set in Avatar: The Last Airbender universe

A new triple A action RPG set in the Avatar: The Last Airbender and Avatar: The Legend of Korra universe is currently in development by Saber Interactive, the studio has officially announced. This game will not focus on Aang or Korra, but will instead introduce a new Avatar from thousands of years before their time.

“We understand that dedicated fans of Avatar: The Last Airbender are eager for more stories set in this beloved universe, and through gaming, we can expand on the world-building and provide fans with an immersive experience of new content,” stated Doug Rosen, SVP, Games and Emerging Media at Paramount. “Saber Interactive has a strong track record of bringing IP-based games to life, and we are thrilled to co-fund this AAA title with them to give fans a firsthand experience of this world.”

“At Saber, we are all genuine fans of the IPs we work with,” commented Josh Austin, Head of IP Development & Licensing at Saber Interactive. “Our team members are incredibly devoted and passionate about their work, and it is a privilege to collaborate with Avatar Studios and Paramount Games to expand the Avatar Legends universe through video games. This unique co-funding arrangement is a result of our longstanding partnership with Paramount, which began with WWZ over a decade ago, and we are excited for what lies ahead.”

Saber Interactive will collaborate with Avatar Studios to develop a story and world that aligns with the established lore of the two shows, focusing on an Avatar’s journey to master all four elements. The game will feature decision-making that impacts the narrative, and the Avatar will have their own group of companions, similar to Aang and Korra. As of now, no specific platforms or release date have been announced.
