Prayagraj Introduces Direct Flights to Ahmedabad, Indore, Kolkata, and Dehradun Ahead of Maha Kumbh 2025, BA

Preparations have begun to start direct flight operations from Prayagraj to four more cities before the Maha Kumbh-2025. Likely to start from Dec 15, direct flights will be available to Ahmedabad, Indore, Kolkata and Dehradun.

At present, there are direct flights to many cities. Alliance Air operates flights to Delhi and Bilaspur, and Indigo operates flights to Bangalore, Delhi, Mumbai, Bhubaneswar, Raipur, Lucknow and Hyderabad. Apart from these two, Akasa Air operates a flight to Mumbai.

The latest decision of the aviation companies follows the expansion of the old terminal building of Prayagraj Airport. These aviation companies have started the necessary paperwork to commence direct flight services to these four cities.

While Indigo can start direct flight services to Indore, Ahmedabad and Kolkata Alliance Air will operate a direct flight to Dehradun. Among these, direct flight services were also operated from Prayagraj to Indore, Kolkata and Dehradun in the past. Both Alliance and Indigo operated flights to Kolkata and Dehradun but later discontinued them. Similarly, Indigo also discontinued the flight service to Indore last year.

Meanwhile, the work of expanding Prayagraj Airport has been ongoing for a year. Now, the Airport Authority has expanded the current terminal and other facilities as well. In such a situation, the capacity of the current terminal has increased from 350 passengers to 850. With the increase in the terminal’s capacity, the airlines have prepared to restart the flights that were stopped earlier. Earlier, in the meeting of the Airport Advisory Committee, it was informed that efforts are ongoing to start direct air services from Prayagraj to Pune, Jaipur, Guwahati, Chennai, Jammu, Goa, Nagpur, Patna, Ahmedabad, Kolkata, Bhopal and Indore.
