Pokemon Red/Blue/Yellow Fishing Rod locations

Water Pokemon are beloved by all trainers. Whether it’s the elegant Vaporeon, majestic Lapras, or powerful Blastoise – the superior starter choice – having a water-type on your team is essential for making a splash in battles.

However, some water Pokemon can only be found by fishing, adding a unique challenge to completing your Pokedex. This method allows you to add valuable team members like Krabby, known for its versatility in learning Surf, Strength, and Cut, and Cloyster, with its devastating Clamp move in Generation 1.

The fishing rods also play a crucial role in Nuzlocke challenges, providing additional encounter opportunities in areas with water bodies. They allow you to swap out mediocre encounters for better water-type Pokemon, enhancing your team composition.

Despite their importance, the fishing rods can be easily overlooked in the early games. The Super Rod, in particular, is located in an optional area that many players might miss. The Old Rod and Good Rod are found in key cities of Kanto but are tucked away in inconspicuous houses that may go unnoticed without thorough exploration.

Here’s where you can find the Old Rod, Good Rod, and Super Rod in Pokemon Red, Blue, and Yellow.
