PlayStation Plus Classics update could fix major TimeSplitters issue
This week, Sony updated its PlayStation Plus Classics lineup with new arrivals, including the TimeSplitters trilogy – TimeSplitters, TimeSplitters 2, and TimeSplitters: Future Perfect – now fully playable on PS4 and PS5 consoles.
However, PlayStation gamers noticed that the TimeSplitters games lack trophy support, unlike other PS2 titles in the library. A PSN user reached out to Deep Silver, the IP holder, who mentioned that trophy support is being considered for a future patch, but no official release date has been announced.
Despite the absence of trophies, many fans are eager to revisit these classic FPS games. The return of the TimeSplitters trilogy to PlayStation serves as a bittersweet reminder of the cancelled TimeSplitters projects that never came to fruition.
Developer Free Radical was working on TimeSplitters 4 before facing challenges, leading to the studio’s closure and the cancellation of TimeSplitters Next. The hope remains that TimeSplitters will make a comeback in the future under a new studio.
Let’s keep our fingers crossed for the revival of TimeSplitters and the opportunity for another studio to bring it back to its former glory.
