Picsart and Getty are making an AI image generator entirely trained on licensed content

Getty has teamed up with Picsart, a popular photo editing platform, to develop an AI image generator that is entirely trained on licensed stock images. This partnership aims to provide a responsible and commercially safe alternative to current platforms. The generated images will have full commercial rights, addressing concerns about potential copyright violations.

This service will be exclusively available to paid Picsart subscribers. The collaboration between Getty and Picsart emphasizes the use of fully licensed stock images to prevent any backlash or unauthorized use of creators’ work for training purposes. Grant Farhall, CPO at Getty Images, stated in a blog post that the partnership allows creators to bring their visions to life while maintaining high standards of commercial safety.

In contrast to Adobe’s controversial update to its terms of service, Picsart and Getty are committed to compensating creators included in the dataset on an annual basis. This effort aims to ensure fair treatment of professional photographers and creators.

The Picsart x Getty Images model is set to launch later this year through Picsart’s API services. The exact release date has not been confirmed yet. This article contains affiliate links, and we may earn a commission if you make a purchase through these links.
