Developer People Can Fly has officially announced a collaboration with Sony Interactive Entertainment to create a prototype of a new video game known as Project Delta, which is based on an IP owned by Sony.

While there are still many uncertainties surrounding this project, it appears that PCF is developing a new game based on an existing IP under a ‘work for hire’ contract. This could mean that Sony will ultimately own the IP of the game created by PCF. Currently, Project Delta is in its prototype stage, with Sony funding the production. Approval will be needed at each stage of development to progress further.

Given the name Project Delta, speculation arises about a potential SOCOM reboot. The reference to Delta Force, a unit of SOCOM, fuels this speculation.

This announcement was made as part of an investor report, as People Can Fly is a publicly listed company on the Warsaw Stock Exchange. This level of transparency is similar to other independent studios like CD Projekt Red and Remedy Entertainment.

While the company has various projects in development, recent setbacks with self-publishing efforts for Project Victoria and Bifrost have led to layoffs. However, they are currently working on Project Gemini with Square Enix, Project Echo with Krafton, and are co-developing Gears of War E-Day (formerly Project Maverick).

Here is a translated excerpt from PCF’s investor report:

The Management Board of PCF Group S.A. based in Warsaw (the “Company”) announced a Production Agreement with Sony Interactive Entertainment LLC on March 13, 2025. This agreement involves the collaboration on a prototype of a new video game codenamed Project Delta, based on the Publisher’s intellectual property rights.

The Production Agreement outlines that the Company will work on the Product under a work-for-hire model, with agreed compensation from the Publisher.

The work on the Product will be divided into stages, with specific terms and payment details outlined in the milestone schedule attached to the Production Agreement.

The terms of the Production Agreement align with industry standards for such projects.

This collaboration follows the Company’s strategy update announced on January 31, 2023, indicating a willingness to engage in work-for-hire partnerships with reputable companies.
