Pennsylvania driver Josh Keating survives near-fatal strike after flying ice shatters windshield: 'Had angels with me'

A Pennsylvania driver narrowly escaped a potentially fatal accident when a large chunk of ice dislodged from a passing semi-truck and shattered his windshield.

Josh Keating, an electrician from Pocono Pines, was on his way from Pottsville to Allentown for work when the terrifying incident occurred on eastbound Interstate 78 near Hamburg.

According to Keating, the ice flew off a UPS tractor-trailer traveling in the opposite direction, causing his windshield to cave in with a loud crash.

Despite the shock and disorientation, Keating managed to pull over safely and only suffered minor cuts and bruises on his hands from the shattered glass.

Keating credited his survival to what he described as divine intervention, as the accident could have been much worse.

The Pennsylvania State Police are currently investigating the incident to determine the cause, and potential charges may be filed as a result of the dangerous ice dislodging.

Keating now advocates for road safety and urges all drivers, especially those with commercial vehicles, to thoroughly clear snow and ice from their vehicles before heading out on the road to prevent similar incidents from occurring.

Failure to remove snow and ice from vehicles can result in fines in Pennsylvania, particularly if it leads to injury or death.

Keating’s message is simple: take the extra time to ensure vehicles are clear of snow and ice to ensure everyone’s safety on the road.
