Patrick, Brittany Mahomes describe son Bronze's allergic reaction

Patrick and Brittany Mahomes shared the frightening experience of their 1-year-old son Bronze’s severe allergic reaction to nuts that landed him in the emergency room last summer.

In an Instagram video for Food Allergy Research and Education (FARE) posted on Tuesday, the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback and his wife opened up about the terrifying ordeal they went through.

“With Bronze, I was doing early introduction,” Brittany explained, revealing that she decided to conduct allergy testing with Bronze when he was around 9 months old after discovering that their 3-year-old daughter, Sterling, had allergies.

“I was trying out different things with Bronze, and it was our first day with nuts, just a little packet of powder that you add to his bottle,” Brittany shared about the incident that unfolded. “He took his bottle, and within 30 minutes, he became very irritable and fussy. I took his diaper off, and he had hives and welts all over.”

The hives eventually spread to Bronze’s upper body and face, causing panic for Brittany. They rushed to the emergency room where doctors were able to help him.

Earlier this year, the Mahomeses partnered with AUVI-Q, an epinephrine injection, to raise awareness about food allergies. The couple, who have been together since high school, got married in March 2022 and welcomed their son in November 2022 and daughter in February 2021.
