PATAPON’s legacy will continue when RATATAN arrives in 2025
Hiroyuki Kotani, the producer behind PATAPON, has teamed up with Tokyo Virtual Theory to unveil RATATAN. RATATAN is a rhythmic roguelike game where players utilize instruments and the rhythmic beat of the music to combat enemies. It is set to be released in 2025 and will be available on PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series XS, and Switch.
RATATAN incorporates roguelike elements by rewarding players with different power-ups and prizes after each battle, with these rewards changing with each playthrough. These power-ups and rewards are bestowed upon the little Cobuns who accompany the Ratatan, and can be utilized in the various trials and battles they will encounter. The Ratatan possess their own distinct abilities that will require players to switch between them to solve different puzzles.
Game Source Entertainment, a publisher based in Hong Kong, will be handling the publishing of RATATAN.
