Death of OpenAI whistleblower deemed suicide in new autopsy report

OpenAI has announced that its new image generator, powered by the GPT-4o model, is now accessible to all users. CEO Sam Altman shared this news in a post on X. Previously, this feature was only available to paying users of ChatGPT.

Although the exact number of images that free tier users can generate is unclear, Altman had mentioned a limit of three images per day last week.

The launch of OpenAI’s image generation tool saw immediate popularity, with Altman noting that the demand was so high that the company’s GPUs were under significant strain. The tool quickly gained attention for its ability to transform images into the style of Studio Ghibli, a Japanese animation studio, raising concerns about copyright and the training data used by OpenAI due to the striking similarity in style.

Some users even utilized the tool to create fake receipts, like restaurant bills. An OpenAI spokesperson assured DailyTech that all images generated by ChatGPT are marked with metadata, and the company takes action if any images violate their guidelines.

In other news, OpenAI has secured $40 billion in funding from SoftBank, valuing the company at $300 billion. Additionally, ChatGPT has reached 500 million weekly active users and 700 million monthly active users.
