One UI 7 Could Be Finished While Samsung Considers Ditching Gemini

Samsung is making progress with its One UI 7 rollout and is also exploring the possibility of replacing Gemini as the default AI assistant on upcoming Galaxy smartphones.

The rollout of Samsung’s latest UI has faced challenges, leading to a delay in the wider rollout to older Galaxy models due to a serious bug.

However, Samsung Galaxy S25 series owners can look forward to the completion of major work on One UI 7, with the ‘YD9 firmware’ being pushed to the South Korean Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, representing the final full version of One UI 7.

What’s new in the final full version of One UI 7?

The latest version of One UI 7 includes stabilization improvements for charging, camera, and terminal operation, as well as security enhancements. New features such as Media Player widget support in the notification menu, Now Bar, and a new charging animation have also been added.

While the current rollout is limited to South Korea, wider availability is expected in the coming weeks.

Samsung could soon let you ditch Gemini

Bloomberg reports that Samsung is considering replacing Google’s Gemini AI assistant with Perplexity AI in future One UI updates. Perplexity AI is in discussions with Samsung to integrate its AI assistant into Samsung devices, potentially making it the default assistant and promoting it in the Galaxy Store.

While Samsung has a close relationship with Google in various AI aspects, its investment arm, NEXT, has supported Perplexity, indicating a willingness to explore new AI partnerships.

It will be interesting to see how this potential shift in AI assistants plays out, especially given the existing collaboration between Google and Samsung in the AI space.
