The New York Times Introduces Math-Based Game “Digits” to Games Catalog

The New York Times has unveiled its latest addition to the Games catalog, following the success of Wordle. The new game, Digits, focuses on math operations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Players can now access the beta version of the game for free online.

In Digits, players are tasked with matching a target number using six given numbers. They can combine these numbers using various mathematical operations to get as close to the target as possible. The game challenges players to test their math skills by creating equations to reach the target number with precision.

Players can earn a five-star rating for matching the target number exactly, a three-star rating for getting within 10 of the target, and a one-star rating for getting within 25 of the target number. Additionally, players can access five different puzzles with progressively larger numbers to solve.

According to The New York Times, Digits offers an engaging number-based gaming experience that will appeal to puzzle enthusiasts who enjoy games like Threes, Wordle, and Spelling Bee. The game’s beta phase allows the Games team to address any issues and determine the game’s potential for further development.

Players are encouraged to try out Digits on The New York Times Games website while the game is in its free beta phase. The Times will evaluate the response to determine the game’s future development path.
