The New York Times Launches Math-Based Game “Digits” Following Wordle’s Success
The New York Times has unveiled its latest addition to the Games catalog, a math-based game called Digits. In this game, players will engage in adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing numbers to match a target number. The beta version of Digits is currently available for free online.
In Digits, players are tasked with reaching a target number by using six given numbers and performing various mathematical operations. The challenge lies in creating equations that get as close as possible to the target number. Players can choose which numbers to use, putting their math skills to the test in a fun and engaging way.
Players will receive a rating based on their performance, with a five-star rating for exact matches, three stars for getting within 10 of the target, and one star for getting within 25. The game features five puzzles with increasing difficulty levels, offering a rewarding experience for players.
The New York Times Games team has shared insights into the development process of Digits, emphasizing the importance of player feedback during the beta phase. The team aims to address any bugs and evaluate the game’s potential for further development based on user response.
Players are encouraged to try out Digits while it is in beta, as The New York Times will assess its future based on the feedback received. The game presents a unique and engaging experience for fans of puzzle games like Threes, Wordle, and Spelling Bee.
