The New York Times Introduces Math-Based Game “Digits” to Games Catalog
The New York Times has announced the launch of a new game called Digits, following the success of Wordle. Digits challenges players to test their math skills by adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing numbers to match a target number. The beta version of the game is currently available to play for free online.
In Digits, players are given six numbers and must use mathematical operations to get as close as possible to the target number. Players can add, subtract, multiply, or divide the numbers, with the goal of creating equations that match the target number. The game offers a rating system where players can earn stars based on how close they get to the target number.
Players who match the target number exactly receive a five-star rating, while those who get within 10 of the target earn three stars. Players who are within 25 of the target number receive a one-star rating. Digits features five different puzzles with varying levels of difficulty, providing a challenging and engaging experience for players.
The game is designed to appeal to players who enjoy number-based puzzle games like Threes, Wordle, and Spelling Bee. The New York Times Games team is currently in the beta testing phase of Digits, where they will gather feedback, fix any bugs, and determine if the game will progress to a more advanced development phase.
Players can access the free beta version of Digits on The New York Times Games website. Try out the game now and see if it captures your interest before it moves on to the next stage of development.
