NYT Mini Crossword today: puzzle answers for Friday, August 23

The New York Times has unveiled its latest addition to the Games collection, Digits, following the success of Wordle. This new math-based game challenges players to add, subtract, multiply, and divide numbers to match a target number. The beta version of Digits is available to play for free online now.
In Digits, players must use six numbers to get as close as possible to a target number by performing mathematical operations. Players can choose to add, subtract, multiply, or divide the numbers provided. The game tests players’ math skills as they strategize to create equations that reach the target number.

Players can earn a five-star rating for matching the target number exactly, a three-star rating for getting within 10 of the target, and a one-star rating for getting within 25 of the target number. Additionally, players can access five different puzzles with increasing difficulty levels. I personally found today’s puzzle to be engaging and appealing to fans of number-based puzzle games like Threes, Wordle, and Spelling Bee from The New York Times.
In an article introducing Digits and discussing The New York Times Games team’s development process, The Times mentions that the free beta will help identify and fix any bugs before deciding whether to proceed with further development. Therefore, it is recommended to try out Digits now, as The New York Times may discontinue the project if it fails to generate the desired response.
The beta version of Digits can be played for free on The New York Times Games’ website.
