NYT Mini Crossword today: puzzle answers for Friday, August 23

The New York Times has unveiled their latest addition to the Games section, following the success of Wordle. Introducing Digits, a math-based game where players will need to use their arithmetic skills to match a target number. The beta version of Digits is currently available for free online.
In Digits, players are presented with a target number and six other numbers that they can use to add, subtract, multiply, or divide to get as close to the target as possible. Players can choose which numbers to use, making it a challenging game that tests math skills as they try to create the right equations to reach the target number.

Players can earn a five-star rating for matching the target number exactly, a three-star rating for getting within 10 of the target, and a one-star rating for getting within 25 of the target number. There are currently five puzzles available, each with larger numbers to work with. I personally found today’s puzzle to be a fun and engaging number-based game that will appeal to fans of puzzle games like Threes, Wordle, and Spelling Bee from The New York Times.

In an article introducing Digits and discussing the development process, The New York Times Games team mentions that they will use the beta phase to address any issues and determine if the game is worth further development. So, it’s recommended to try out Digits now before the project progresses or potentially ends, depending on the response it receives.

Don’t miss out on the opportunity to play Digits for free on The New York Times Games’ website.
