Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang Skips Trump Inauguration

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang announced that he will not be attending President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration, unlike other tech leaders planning to fly to Washington, DC. Instead, Huang will be celebrating the Lunar New Year on the road with his employees and their families.

During the Lunar New Year celebrations, Huang attended an Nvidia party in Taipei and Shenzhen. He is also expected to visit Beijing for another company party on Monday.

Despite not attending the inauguration, Huang expressed his willingness to congratulate the Trump administration when they take office. He also mentioned that he has not discussed President Joe Biden’s new artificial intelligence export rules with the incoming administration.

Meanwhile, Tesla’s Elon Musk, Amazon’s Jeff Bezos, Meta’s Mark Zuckerberg, and OpenAI’s Sam Altman are expected to attend the inauguration. They will be skipping the World Economic Forum in Davos to be in DC for the event.

Huang also mentioned meeting with TSMC’s chairman, C.C. Wei, to discuss expanding production of Nvidia’s advanced Blackwell AI chips. As the demand for AI chips grows, Nvidia’s value has soared, with a market cap of $3.4 trillion and a stock increase of over 140% in the past year.

However, the Biden administration’s new export restrictions on advanced computer chips could impact Nvidia’s revenue growth. The regulations limit AI chip exports to certain countries, including Taiwan, while blocking exports to countries like China to prevent them from acquiring advanced chips for military purposes.
