Nothing Phone (3a) Camera Spec Reveals Dedicated Telephoto
The Nothing Phone (3a) is set to be a standout mid-range smartphone camera, based on the latest official information.
All indications from UK-based smartphone manufacturer Nothing point to their upcoming mid-range smartphone, the Nothing Phone (3a), being a great option for amateur photographers on a budget.
Following the news that the Nothing Phone (3a) may feature a physical camera button, the brand has released a YouTube video showcasing some of its camera specifications.
Nothing Phone (3a) camera specs
In their camera reveal, Nothing goes all out with the Phone (3a), taking it out for a spin and comparing its camera performance to that of the powerful iPhone 16 Pro Max.
Of particular interest are the confirmed camera specs of the Nothing Phone (3a). The new mid-range device will boast three main cameras, including a 50MP primary sensor with OIS.
Additionally, it will feature an 8MP ultra-wide lens and a 50MP telephoto lens, both provided by Sony. On the front, there will be another 50MP camera for selfies.

Why is this so exciting?
Having three main cameras is quite uncommon for a mid-range phone. Often, manufacturers include a questionable macro or depth sensor to pad the specs.
However, the Nothing Phone (3a) stands out with a 50MP 3x periscope telephoto camera, a feature rarely seen in a phone that may cost less than £400. Even the £800 Pixel 9 and iPhone 16 lack dedicated telephoto lenses.
This setup allows the Nothing Phone (3a) to capture 3x optical zoom shots and up to 6x “lossless zoom” through cropping. It can even achieve 60x ultra zoom, though the resulting images may be quite noisy.
Furthermore, the Nothing Phone (3a) can take 6x macro zoom shots for extreme close-ups, and the 50MP selfie camera promises impressive performance at this price point.

What else do we learn about the Nothing Phone (3a)?
In Nothing’s Phone (3a) camera shootout video, we discover that the main sensor boasts an unusually large full well capacity. With a 300% increase, it has the “largest full well capacity of any comparable sensor.”
This feature will enable the Nothing Phone (3a) to capture a wider range of brightness levels, resulting in superior HDR performance.
Additionally, the Nothing Phone (3a) showcases enhanced video stabilization capabilities, as demonstrated by smooth 4K/30fps footage during a bike ride.
All these features make us eager to test out the Nothing Phone (3a) camera. The phone is scheduled to launch on March 4th at 10am GMT.
