No, sorry, put the party poppers away, Chrono Trigger isn't getting a remake, as far as anyone knows anyway

Yesterday, there were claims that Chrono Trigger writer Yuji Horii accidentally confirmed a remake of the game. However, it was later clarified that there was a translation miscommunication during a panel at Napoli Comicon. Horii did not mention anything about a remake of Chrono Trigger.

A Twitch VOD of the event confirmed that the rumors were false. It seems that the interpreter misinterpreted Horii’s words as confirmation of a remake. Despite the excitement, it was all a misunderstanding.

Square Enix had hinted at upcoming projects on the game’s 30th anniversary, leading to speculations of a remake. While a remake might still be in the works, it has not been officially confirmed by the lead writers.

Personally, I don’t believe a remake is necessary. If one were to happen, it might follow the HD-2D style of other games like Dragon Quest 3. But until any official announcement, it’s all just speculation.
