Nintendo wraps Not-E3 up with a summer Direct tomorrow, and no, the Switch 2 won't be there

Not-E3 season may be winding down, but Nintendo has announced its summer Direct date for this week.

Known for leaving announcements until the last minute these days, Nintendo has confirmed that its annual summer Direct will take place tomorrow, June 18, at 7am PT/ 10am ET/ 3pm BST. The presentation will last about 40 minutes and will showcase games set to release later this year. Nintendo didn’t reveal much else, sticking to its usual mysterious approach when it comes to Directs. You can tune in to watch the Direct on Nintendo’s YouTube or Twitch channels. However, Nintendo has made it clear that the Nintendo Switch 2 will not be featured during the showcase, as they confirmed last month and reiterated in the Direct announcement. It seems we’ll have to wait until at least the end of the year for any news on its successor.

As for the games that might be featured, it’s somewhat of a mystery. Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD is likely to make an appearance, given its release at the end of the month. There might also be a glimpse of Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition, set to release in July. Beyond these titles, there haven’t been any announcements for new first-party Nintendo games. While Metroid Prime 4 is anticipated, it may be more fitting for a Switch 2 release. Additionally, Pokemon Legends Z-A is slated for 2025, and any updates on that would probably come in a Pokemon Presents event.

In essence, viewers can anticipate a mix of third-party titles (don’t count on Silksong being there) and potentially some unexpected first-party releases. The February Direct this year surprised fans with a new Endless Ocean game, so anything is possible. Perhaps we’ll finally see the long-rumored Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker and Twilight Princess Switch ports! The Direct is just a day away, so the wait won’t be long.
