NFL fans can customize YouTube multi-game streams

The transition of NFL Sunday Ticket from DirecTV to YouTube TV last year was highly anticipated, but the high price tag was a disappointment for many. To attract more buyers this year, some new streaming features have been introduced. One of them is a new multiview interface that allows users to watch up to four games simultaneously.

Multiview has been available for some time, but last year users could only choose from pre-selected game combinations. The enhanced interface, accessible on smart TVs and mobile devices, now allows fans to select two, three, or four games to watch in a single view.

This feature brings to mind the scene in Back to the Future II when Marty Jr. creates his own channel combination on the spot – perhaps it could be made into an “OK Google” command?

Although Sunday Ticket provides access to all Sunday NFL games outside of your local market, it remains a costly choice for football enthusiasts. Priced at $479 per year at the lowest tier, this does not include the base plan for YouTube TV that offers access to your local team’s games, ESPN for Monday Night Football, and local channels for some Thursday games. YouTube TV subscribers will have access to some pre-selected multiview streams without needing to purchase Sunday Ticket. International football fans can access more affordable packages.

Additional upgrades for the upcoming season include integration with NFL Fantasy and Yahoo Fantasy leagues, a “spoiler mode” to hide scores until you watch a recorded version, a user-selectable delay to reduce buffering interruptions, and a new shortcut for quick channel switching between games.
