New trailer for Mass Effect wannabe Exodus features space-capable flesh cathedral whisperingly described by Matthew McConaughey

Exodus, the space RPG developed by Archetype Entertainment and Blur Studio, made headlines when it was announced in December. The game features a star-hopping adventure centered around time dilation during faster than light travel and a battle against evil Celestials spanning hundreds, if not thousands, of years. Notably, one of the characters in the game is voiced by Matthew McConaughey.

The latest update introduces a new Celestial faction known as Mara Yama, described as a cosmic blubber-spire of gurning faces with a sinister appetite for both ships and souls. Check out the trailer featuring McConaughey’s captivating performance.

Here’s a glimpse into the Mara Yama:

The Mara-Yama, terrifying Celestials twisted into monstrous forms, are a new threat unlike anything humanity has encountered. They thrive on fear, revel in cruelty, and derive pleasure from the suffering of their victims. These sadistic predators not only hunt but also torment their prey psychologically, leaving survivors haunted by the horrors lurking in space.

Operating in the shadows of the Centauri Cluster, the Mara Yama strike unexpectedly, targeting the vulnerable and unsuspecting. They seek more than just material goods, as they extract minds, memories, and emotions, leaving a lasting impact on those who manage to escape their clutches.

Although gameplay footage of Exodus is yet to be revealed, the concept of time dilation in the game is intriguing. While drawing comparisons to Mass Effect is inevitable, there is hope that Exodus will offer a unique experience, especially in its exploration of time dilation. The inclusion of McConaughey in the game’s cast raises expectations, and it remains to be seen how his character will be integrated beyond cutscenes.
