New theme park manager Mars Attracts is the oddest bit of IP necromancy I’ve seen in quite some time
It’s no surprise to me that a park simulation game based on Tim Burton’s Mars Attacks is in the works. With the ever-evolving world of video games, I’ve learned to expect the unexpected. Jurassic World Evolution with humans instead of dinosaurs could be an interesting concept. Mars Attracts, set to release next year, will be the first licensed game based on the film.
The trailer for Mars Attracts showcases a time-traveling theme where Martians capture humans from different historical periods and display them in customizable habitats. The goal is to entertain guests by unlocking new ways to amuse them, but be careful not to probe the humans too much as they may try to escape.
In terms of gameplay, Mars Attracts leans more towards Theme Park rather than Planet Coaster, with fixed amusements and the task of managing utility grids, keeping guests happy, and dealing with escaped humans and environmental hazards.
Developed by Irish studio Outlier, known for This Means Warp, a mix of FTL and Overcooked, Mars Attracts promises to be an exciting addition to the park simulation genre.
