My parents gave me a 'cringe' made-up pirate name — I literally hate it

An 18-year-old started a viral Reddit thread expressing her dislike for her unique name, ‘Arrisa’.

She explained that her name was supposed to be ‘Marrisa’, but her mother insisted on removing the ‘M’ to make it stand out.

She asked for opinions on her name, leading to mixed responses from commenters.

Some suggested alternative spellings like Marissa or Arissa, while others humorously compared it to a pirate name.

Others encouraged her to embrace her name and find a variation that she feels comfortable with.

One commenter even shared their experience of legally changing their name to one they truly loved.

Another unique baby name 

Recently, a mother named her daughter Riley Coyote, inspired by the cartoon character Wile E. Coyote.

The mother, Kerry, defended her choice, stating that she loves the original and uncommon name for her daughter.

She proudly said, “Riley Coyote is the perfect name for my little girl. It’s original, it’s unusual, and you will never meet another child called the same.”
