Warner Bros. is bidding farewell to MultiVersus, announcing that support for the character-packed brawler will end after Season 5 on May 30, 2025. On this date, the game will be taken off online stores and servers will be shut down, but it will still be playable offline.

Online features will be available until 9AM PST on May 30, after which the game can be played offline with solo AI battles or couch multiplayer for up to four players.

To ensure continued access to the game, players must play and log in during Season 5, which runs from February 4 to May 30. This will create the necessary save file and online account links for offline play with all earned and purchased content.

Real money purchases have been discontinued as a lead-up to the game’s shutdown. Gleamium and character tokens can still be used until the server closure.

The MultiVersus team at Player First Games expressed their gratitude in a message:

We want to thank every player and supporter of MultiVersus. Our teams have dedicated themselves to this game, and we are thankful for the support of the MultiVersus community.

We hope you enjoy the final Season of MultiVersus.

MultiVersus launched in 2022 as a contender to Super Smash Bros., featuring characters from the Warner Bros. universe. However, after an initial surge in popularity, the community began to point out gameplay issues, and Player First Games faced challenges in keeping up with content demands for a free-to-play live service.

The game was temporarily removed from stores and reappeared last year. While the revamp improved some aspects of MultiVersus, there were mixed reactions to the changes in combat tempo and monetization strategies.

Warner Bros. acknowledged that the revival of MultiVersus did not meet expectations, leading to the decision to end support along with Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League.

We look forward to seeing what Player First Games will create next.
