Heads up, Firefox users! It’s time to update your devices with the latest Firefox 130 release as Mozilla rolled out numerous security fixes and feature upgrades. The most exciting feature launched with Firefox 130 is the integrated AI Chatbot access for enhanced productivity.

Mozilla Firefox 130 Introduces ‘Firefox Labs’ With AI Chatbot And More

This week, Mozilla released a stable update for its Firefox browser with noteworthy feature improvements. The tech giant listed all the changes in the Firefox 130 release notes.

The most important feature upgrade with the latest Firefox 130 is the launch of dedicated in-browser support for AI assistants.

Specifically, users may find this feature in the “Settings” menu under a brand-new section called “Firefox Labs.” This section includes Mozilla’s latest experimental features for users to try.

On top of the “Browsing” section of Firefox Labs, users may find the “AI chatbot” setting with a checkbox. Ticking this feature opens up further settings for configuring the preferred chatbot. After users select their preferred chatbot, a new side panel appears in the browser window, providing users with AI chat support.

Apparently, this in-browser AI chat integration resembles Microsoft Edge, which offers the Microsoft Copilot Chat option. However, what makes Firefox’s feature different is the variety of chatbot support it offers.

Presently, Firefox offers the following major chatbots to its browsers.

  • Anthropic Claude
  • ChatGPT
  • Google Gemini
  • HuggingChat
  • Le Chat Mistral

In addition, the Firefox 130 stable release includes the following experimental options as part of its Firefox Labs.

  • Auto Picture-in-Picture: Enables picture-in-picture for videos automatically upon switching tabs.
  • Address bar with IME: With IME (Input Method Editor), users may enter complex symbols, such as those from Indic or East Asian languages, using the standard keyboard.
  • Improved language translation: Users may also translate selected parts of text alongside translating full pages.

Users may also find the “Developer Tools” menu in the same “Firefox Labs” section.

Numerous Security Vulnerabilities Also Patched

Alongside these feature upgrades, Mozilla also rolled out numerous security fixes with the latest browser version. According to the Firefox advisory, these include four high-severity vulnerabilities, four moderate-severity flaws, and a single low-severity vulnerability.

Users must update their devices with the latest browser release to access the latest features and receive all security fixes.
