Wrong Organ, the developer of the popular indie game Mouthwashing, recently addressed fans who were harassing fan artists.

Spoilers ahead for Mouthwashing

The harassment targeted artists who depicted the character Anya in ways deemed “sexualized.” One artist, USA, drew Anya with elf ears, sparking controversy.

In response, Wrong Organ issued a statement, stating, “If you can’t be respectful and considerate, this fandom is not the place for you.”

In recent years, “fan cops” have emerged in fandom spaces, dictating what content is acceptable. This behavior has been seen in the case of Anya, a character who is a victim of sexual assault.

Creators like Wrong Organ and Nier Automata creator Yoko Taro have condemned such fan behavior.

Mouthwashing is available for Windows PC on Steam.
