Monster Hunter Wilds videos explain Focus Mode, Seikret riding & the Slinger

Capcom has unveiled a trio of brief explainer videos for Monster Hunter Wilds, the upcoming installment in the popular monster hunting series. The videos showcase essential gameplay mechanics for the Seikret and Slinger, as well as the introduction of the new Focus Mode.

Let’s delve into the fundamental mechanics:

The first video covers the basics, including the different states of a hunter’s weapon – sheathed and drawn. The sheathed state allows for quicker movement and item usage. Additionally, it introduces the Seikret, a new creature that players can mount and ride through the game world. The Seikret can follow trails to track down target monsters, providing opportunities for healing, weapon sharpening, and item collection. It also features a holster for switching between primary and secondary weapons.

Next up is the Slinger, a standard tool for hunters in Monster Hunter Wilds that replaces the Wirebug from Monster Hunter Rise. The Slinger can shoot environmental ammo, grapple distant items, and interact with specific environmental elements, making it a versatile asset for players.

Focus Mode is a fresh combat mechanic that allows for more precise aiming of attacks and guards. Attacks will now align with the direction the camera is facing, offering greater control to players. Focus Mode highlights monster wounds, prompting players to target those areas for increased damage. It also enables Focus Strikes, powerful special attacks.

Lastly, the Great Sword is highlighted as one of the many weapons featured in Monster Hunter Wilds. A classic weapon in the series, the Great Sword is slower and heavier but can be utilized effectively with hit-and-run tactics, guarding, and leveraging Focus Mode for devastating damage.
