Minecraft is getting a new biome and The Creaking, a creepy mob that only moves when you look away

Mojang has announced a shift towards releasing smaller updates more frequently for Minecraft, as opposed to one major update each summer. During a recent Minecraft Live stream, details were shared about the upcoming Bravery And Bundles update, with another spooky update set to follow in the coming months.

The upcoming update, which does not have a name yet, will introduce The Pale Garden, a new biome featuring eerie grey trees and hanging moss. This biome remains quiet during the day but becomes inhabited by a new mob called the Creaking at night.

The Creaking are tree-like mobs that camouflage themselves within the new biome, making them hard to spot among the trees. When attacked, they do not take damage but instead lead players to a block in the canopy known as the Creaking Heart. Destroying the heart is crucial to defeating the Creaking, but they move closer to players whenever they look away.

Players who chop down trees in the Pale Garden will obtain a new set of pale wood for crafting purposes, and the hanging moss can be used for creating a creeping carpet. The introduction of the Creaking mob adds a touch of horror reminiscent of Doctor Who’s weeping angels. Similar to the terrifying Warden mob that emerges from the ground in deep dark biomes, the Creaking promises to deliver intense gameplay moments.

The Creaking and Pale Garden updates will soon be available in Minecraft’s various beta builds.
