Midnight Murder Club brings its hide, seek & shoot game to early access today

Midnight Murder Club has been released by Velan Studios into early access, offering a unique twist on the first person shooter genre in the form of a dark room party game. The game is now available for PS5 and PC.
Players can purchase Midnight Murder Club for $19.99 / £15.99, but there is also a Guest Pass feature that allows owners to invite friends to play using a free Guest Pass version of the game. For multiplayer gameplay on PS5, players will need a free PSN account on PC and an active PS Plus subscription.
Set in the dark rooms of Wormwood Manor, Midnight Murder Club pits up to six players against each other armed only with a revolver and a flashlight. Players must rely on sound, light, and limited flashlight use to locate and eliminate their opponents. This unique gameplay could appeal to fans of social deduction games and may be popular among Twitch streamer groups.
At the early access launch, the game features five different modes, as described by Velan Studios:
- Free-for-All – Players compete to have the most kills when time runs out.
- Thief in the Night – Teams search for valuable skulls to deposit in a vault, with the team accumulating the most value winning.
- Team Deathmatch – Players must work together to eliminate the opposing team.
- Head Hunters – Players hunt for hidden totems while avoiding being hunted themselves.
- New Game Mode: Wildcards – Players can use cards to change the game rules in unique ways, adding a new level of unpredictability to gameplay.
One of the standout features of Midnight Murder Club is the accessibility it offers to players. With the Guest Pass system, only one person needs to purchase the game to host a full lobby, similar to other games with friend pass features.
Additionally, the game supports full cross-play and cross-progression, allowing players to enjoy the game across different platforms seamlessly.
Velan Studios has outlined their plans for Early Access in a dev diary roadmap, including the introduction of a new PvE mode in the spring and the addition of more Toys and custom game modes in the summer. These plans are subject to change based on community feedback and player preferences.
With Midnight Murder Club, Velan Studios continues to demonstrate their ability to create innovative multiplayer games. While their previous title Knockout City faced challenges, Midnight Murder Club shows promise and potential to resonate with a wider audience.
