Metroid Prime 4: Beyond shows up at Nintendo Direct, and shows off Samus' swanky mind-bending psychic abilities

Attention Metroid fans! Metroid Prime 4: Beyond made an appearance at today’s Nintendo Direct showcase with a new trailer, but unfortunately, no official release date has been announced yet. The game is still expected to be released sometime in 2025.

In the latest glimpse of the game, we witnessed gameplay footage of Samus exploring the jungle planet Viewros, scanning ancient stone figures and relics, and engaging in combat with alien foes. Additionally, we were introduced to her psychic abilities, allowing her to manipulate objects and her beam using her mind – suggesting a crucial role in the game’s storyline. However, Nintendo has been secretive about further details.

Although Metroid Prime 4 updates were scarce until recently, the game resurfaced as the highlight of last June’s Direct, showcasing exciting gameplay footage and confirming the 2025 release window – which is the current year we are in.

It was also revealed back then that the game will be available on the original Nintendo Switch, alleviating concerns about needing a new console to play. The backwards compatibility feature of the Switch 2, which has been unveiled since then, further solidified this assurance.

That’s the latest on Metroid Prime 4, set to release sometime this year. Spread the word to your Nintendo enthusiast friends, and why not even mention it to your dad – he might have played the earlier games in the series and could have a nostalgic reaction.
