McDonald's plans more chicken offerings with fan-favorite 'Snack Wrap' soon making a return

McDonald’s to Expand Chicken Offerings

McDonald’s is looking to further expand its chicken business with new offerings, as CEO Chris Kempczinski revealed during the company’s fourth-quarter earnings call.

Kempczinski shared that McDonald’s is very enthusiastic about its chicken portfolio and is planning to introduce new items such as the return of Snack Wraps in the U.S. and other markets. Additionally, a new chicken strip offering is in the works for the U.S.

The popular Snack Wrap, which has a cult following, is set to make a comeback in 2025 after being absent from U.S. menus for eight years. McDonald’s U.S. President Joe Erlinger expressed excitement about bringing back this fan-favorite item.

While details about the timing and specifics of the snack wraps and chicken strips were not disclosed during the earnings call, Kempczinski hinted at exciting food innovations coming later in the year.

McDonald’s will also continue to introduce limited-time offerings like the Chicken Big Mac, which was previously available in October and helped boost chicken market share growth in France and the U.S.

In addition to the Chicken Big Mac, McDonald’s is expanding the availability of the McCrispy menu item, aiming to make it accessible in nearly all markets by the end of the year. The McCrispy has become one of the fast-food giant’s billion-dollar brands.

Overall, McDonald’s is optimistic about the potential for growth within its chicken portfolio and aims to capture more market share by 2026.

In the fourth quarter, McDonald’s generated nearly $6.39 billion in revenue, with a net income of almost $2.02 billion. For the full year, the company reported revenues of $25.92 billion and a net income of $8.22 billion.
