Marvel Rivals performance bottlenecks are “a very big problem”, agree NetEase, but don’t worry, they’re adding a box
Imagine a Marvel supervillain based on PC game memory requirements – introducing Dr. RAMsbottom. Dr. RAMsbottom, also known as the Bottlenecking Belle or Zero Sub Sixty, has long been a thorn in the side of Marvel Rivals players, causing performance issues and reducing gameplay to a slow-motion experience.
But fear not, fellow Rivals, as NetEase is working on solutions to combat Dr. RAMsbottom’s antics. They are considering adding a feature that will allow players to significantly reduce memory usage and improve frame rates with just a simple tick of a box in the launcher.
Marvel Rivals director Guangyun Chen mentioned in an interview at GDC 2025 that addressing memory consumption optimization is a priority for Season 2. The team at NetEase is committed to improving performance and providing a smoother gaming experience for players.
While the specifics of this optimization feature are still uncertain, the hope is that it will make a noticeable difference for players struggling with performance issues. Whether it’s a real technical enhancement or just a placebo effect, the goal is to enhance the overall gameplay experience.
As Rivals Season 2 approaches on April 11th, players can look forward to new Team-Ups and exciting updates to the game. Stay tuned for more information on how NetEase plans to combat Dr. RAMsbottom and improve Marvel Rivals for all players.
