Blumhouse and Meta have teamed up to introduce a new AI chatbot experience called Movie Mate during a special screening of M3GAN on April 30, ahead of the release of its sequel, M3GAN 2.0. The chatbot is themed after the leading killer doll and aims to enhance the viewing experience for fans by providing interactive content and behind-the-scenes information.

Variety reported the launch of Movie Mate, a collaboration between Meta and the horror film studio, which aims to engage fans on a deeper level during the screening of M3GAN. By DM’ing the movie’s official Instagram account (@M3GAN), viewers can interact with the evil doll and access exclusive content and trivia while watching the film. This innovative approach adds a new dimension to the viewing experience, allowing fans to engage with the movie in real-time on their mobile devices.

Jason Blum, founder and CEO of Blumhouse, highlighted the collaboration with Meta as part of the Halfway to Halloween campaign, which aims to bring new experiences to audiences nationwide. The partnership with Instagram’s parent company allows M3GAN fans to engage with the character in a unique way, enhancing the overall movie experience.

Parents of young teens attending the screening are reminded that the M3GAN chatbot is a fictional character and part of a promotional campaign for the sequel. Character.AI has included a disclaimer in their app to clarify that AI characters are not real, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for young users.

M3GAN 2.0 will hit theaters on June 27.
