London sparkles in astronaut’s gorgeous night shot from ISS
An incredible photograph taken by NASA astronaut Don Pettit from the International Space Station (ISS) showcases the mesmerizing night lights of London from a vantage point 250 miles above Earth.
Pettit, the oldest active astronaut at 69, recently arrived at the ISS for his fourth orbital mission.
Sharing the photo on social media, Pettit wrote, “London sparkling at night,” along with details of the camera equipment he used – a full-frame Nikon Z9 with a 200mm lens, f2 aperture, 1/320 sec speed, and ISO 25600.
Just days after his arrival, Pettit captured another remarkable image of the Polaris Dawn spacecraft re-entering Earth’s atmosphere at high speed, marking the end of a historic five-day mission with four astronauts onboard.
Known for his talent in capturing stunning visuals from space, Pettit has delighted his followers with breathtaking photos from previous ISS missions. His expertise extends to capturing star trail images and near-infrared shots, showcasing the beauty of Earth from above.
Alongside Pettit, astronauts like Matthew Dominick and Thomas Pesquet also document their space experiences through photography, providing a unique perspective on our planet from the ISS.
