London Knights shut down Brantford Bulldogs in 5-0 win - London

The London Knights defeated the Brantford Bulldogs 5-0 in a battle between the top two teams in their respective conferences at the Brantford and District Civic Centre on March 5.

Austin Elliott shone for London, making 23 saves and shutting out the OHL’s top goal scorer, Nick Lardis, five times. Elliott, with a record of 27-1, has three shutouts this season.

Easton Cowan and Sam Dickinson were offensive standouts for the Knights.

Cowan scored twice, bringing his total to five goals in his last two games.

Dickinson accumulated 10 points in his last four games and is currently on a nine-game point streak.

Cowan opened the scoring with his 25th goal of the season on a power play early in the game, assisted by Sam Dickinson.

Jacob Julien set up Landon Sim for a breakaway goal, making it 2-0 for London.

Later, Dickinson and Jesse Nurmi contributed to the scoring, extending the lead to 4-0 heading into the final period.

In the third period, Julien assisted Cowan for his second goal of the night, tying him with Sim for the most goals on the London roster.

The Knights successfully shut down the Bulldogs’ power play, holding them scoreless on five chances, while also converting on one of their power play opportunities.

London outshot Brantford 35-28 in the game.

The win marked Dale Hunter’s 999th regular-season victory in his coaching career with the Knights.

Max Jones Trade to Oilers

Former Knight Max Jones was traded to the Edmonton Oilers from the Boston Bruins on March 4. Jones, a first-round pick in 2014, played a key role in the Knights’ 2016 Memorial Cup win.
