Lollipop Chainsaw RePop will arrive on PC this September with 4K and 60fps support

Lollipop Chainsaw RePop, a refreshed version of the 2012 hack-and-slash game featuring a cheerleader battling zombies, now has an official release date of September 25th. Along with the release date announcement, a first trailer has been unveiled showcasing the game in action, highlighting the new “RePop mode” which offers a less violent gameplay experience.

The RePop mode allows players to choose between the “Original mode”, which retains the gritty violence of the original game, or the RePop mode that introduces “pop-art damage effects” in place of some of the violence.

Producer Yoshimi Yasuda aims to make RePop the definitive version of the game by implementing various changes. These include faster load times, support for 4K resolutions, and running at 60 frames per second.

Lollipop Chainsaw RePop was initially announced in 2022 with a planned summer 2023 release, but was later delayed to 2024. Concerns have been raised as the original creators, Suda51 and Grasshopper Manufacture, as well as writer James Gunn, are not involved in the project. Additionally, it is expected that the original soundtrack, featuring songs from artists like Skrillex and The Human League, will be replaced with only a few licensed tracks in RePop.

Despite receiving mixed reviews upon its initial release, Lollipop Chainsaw has garnered a cult following over the years due to its unique style and over-the-top gameplay. This September, players will have the opportunity to experience the game in a new light with RePop.

Personally, I never had the chance to play Lollipop Chainsaw before, but with the upcoming release of RePop, I am intrigued to give it a try and see what all the buzz is about.
