LittleBigPlanet 3 and all DLC are being delisted on 31st October
It appears that the LittleBigPlanet series is reaching a somber conclusion, as LittleBigPlanet 3 and all related DLC are set to be removed from the PlayStation Store on October 31st.
While the game will still be playable for those who own it and have the DLC, online features have been disabled since the beginning of 2024. User-generated content is also inaccessible unless it has already been downloaded and saved on a device.
It is unfortunate that negative actors have tarnished the enjoyment of this beloved series. Problems began in 2021 when the game servers were impacted by what was initially believed to be a DDoS attack, leading to sporadic availability in the following weeks as the maintenance team worked on security patches. The situation escalated when hackers exploited their access to display offensive messages on players’ screens, prompting Sony to take the servers offline for repairs. Although a fix was eventually released for LBP 3 on PS4, the PS3 and handheld versions of the game were permanently affected. This year, it seems that the issues resurfaced, ultimately leading to Sony discontinuing support.
While Sackboy: A Big Adventure remains available for purchase, none of the mainline LittleBigPlanet games are accessible on current platforms, and all online servers have been shut down. There is no indication or speculation that the series’ creator, MediaMolecule, will revisit LittleBigPlanet, nor does it seem likely that Sony will collaborate with another studio like Sumo Digital in the future.
