Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver I & II Remastered leaked by merch

News of remasters for Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 and 2 has surfaced thanks to two collectible statues unveiled at San Diego Comic-Con. This leak is quite unique, as we’ve seen games revealed through various means such as the ERSB, promotional drinks, and mistimed adverts, but never through a statue.

The presence of the Crystal Dynamics logo hints at their involvement in the remaster, as they acquired ownership of the franchise upon joining Embracer. The statues can be viewed at the Dark Horse booth at San Diego Comic-Con 2024.

“We are excited to inform you that Crystal Dynamics has taken control of several game franchises—including TOMB RAIDER and Legacy of Kain—from the games’ previous owner, Square Enix Limited,” the team stated. “As a result of this change, Crystal Dynamics (or its affiliate) is now the owner of these games and the controller of the gameplay and personal data related to them.”

Fans have long awaited news on the Soul Reaver franchise, and this leak is the first indication of a possible remake or remaster. Embracer’s acquisition of multiple IPs signaled their interest in exploring various projects, including remakes and sequels.

Both Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver games serve as sequels to The Legacy of Kain, following the vampire wraith Raziel on a quest to defeat Kain. Directed by Amy Hennig, known for her work on Uncharted, both titles received rave reviews upon their original release between 1991 and 2001.

While Crystal Dynamics and Embracer have yet to officially announce the remasters, the existence of merchandise suggests that a release may be imminent.
