Kristin Cavallari Accuses MTV Of “Taking Advantage” Of ‘Laguna Beach’ Cast: “We Were Very Young To Have Our Lives Manipulated Like That”

Reflecting on her time on the MTV reality series Laguna Beach, Kristin Cavallari shared that it wasn’t all smooth sailing for the cast members.

In an interview with Bustle, Cavallari opened up about feeling like she was unfairly targeted by MTV during her time on the show, saying, “I think I walked away from Laguna Beach thinking that I was the only one MTV messed with and I got the sh*tty end of the deal, and I took everything so personally,” as reported by Page Six.

However, she later realized that everyone on the show was treated similarly, stating, “they messed with everybody the same way they messed with [her].”

She acknowledged that being young and having their lives manipulated by the show was challenging for the cast, which included other stars like Lauren “Lo” Bosworth, Stephen Colletti, Lauren Conrad, Trey Phillips, Talan Torriero, and Jason Wahler.

Despite the difficulties, Cavallari expressed gratitude for the experience, saying, “I’m so thankful for the show. I think it can be both things — I can feel like we were taken advantage of, and I can also be thankful for it.”

Starting the show at 17 years old, Cavallari emphasized that it was a time when no one truly knows who they are, and the experience helped her realize the person she didn’t want to become.

She also reflected on her time on the spin-off series The Hills and her own show Very Cavallari, mentioning that during the latter, she was “rail fucking thin” due to being in an unhappy marriage with Jay Cutler and feeling overwhelmed.
