Vice President Kamala Harris has been deemed competent to run for the Presidency again in four years, according to outgoing U.S. President Joe Biden. Biden stated on Friday (January 10, 2025) that the final decision on her candidacy would be up to Harris herself.
“I think that’s a decision she might think she’s competent to run again in four years. That’ll be a decision for her to make,” Biden told reporters at a news conference here.

In a historic move in 2020, Biden appointed Harris as the first ever Indian American, African American, and female Vice President of the country.
In the summer of 2024, following a disastrous Presidential debate with Donald Trump in Atlanta, Biden withdrew from the race and threw his support behind Harris for the Presidency. Harris subsequently became the Democratic Party’s Presidential nominee.
However, Harris was defeated by Trump in the November 5th Presidential election. She has yet to announce her future plans.
