Jessica Simpson and husband Eric Johnson split after 10 years of marriage: ‘Painful situation’

Jessica Simpson and her husband Eric Johnson have decided to separate after being married for 10 years.

“Eric and I have been living separately, dealing with a difficult situation in our marriage,” Simpson, 44, shared with People in a statement on Monday.

“Our children are our top priority, and we are focused on what is best for them. We appreciate all the love and support we have received and request privacy as we navigate this as a family.”

Rumors about the couple’s marriage had been circulating for months, especially after fans noticed that Johnson, 45, had not appeared on Simpson’s Instagram since 2023.

Additionally, fans observed that Simpson had stopped wearing her wedding ring since January 2024, with Johnson following suit in recent months.

The couple, who got married in 2014 after dating for four years, have three children together: Maxwell “Maxi” Drew, 12, Ace Knute, 11, and Birdie Mae, 5.

Last week, the family had to evacuate their home in California due to the wildfires in Los Angeles.

Simpson posted a photo on social media showing their backyard covered in smoke, indicating the need to evacuate the premises.

“We stayed as long as we could 🙏🏼,” she captioned the image, shared with her 6.3 million followers on her Instagram Story.

It’s unclear if they have returned home or if their residence was affected by the wildfires. Concerns about their marriage arose when Johnson was absent from a family photoshoot shared by Simpson on Instagram in early September.

As Simpson celebrated their kids’ first day back to school, Johnson was noticeably absent from the photos and captions.

“Maxwell, Ace, and Birdie, y’all make your Mom beam with smiles and grace!” she wrote in the post.

“Keep on showing up for yourselves through this new school year! I’m so proud of y’all for shining your light and making others feel the glow.”

The news of their separation comes after reports indicated that they were leading separate lives for some time.

In November, photos obtained by The Post showed Johnson without his wedding ring on multiple occasions.

“She’s focusing on music and divides her time between Los Angeles and Nashville. Eric is based in LA, where the kids attend school,” a source told People. “Jess and Eric lead very separate lives.”

The couple began their relationship in May 2010 when Johnson was still married to his first wife, Keri D’Angelo.

Johnson and D’Angelo finalized their divorce in October 2010, paving the way for his relationship with Simpson.

They tied the knot in July 2014 in Santa Barbara, California, at the San Ysidro Ranch.

Simpson was previously married to Nick Lachey from 2002 to 2006.

Prior to that, she had relationships with John Mayer, Tony Romo, Billy Corgan, Adam Levine, and Johnny Knoxville.
