Jen Psaki insists she 'never saw' diminished Biden while working as press secretary

During a recent interview, MSNBC host and former White House press secretary Jen Psaki defended former President Joe Biden’s performance, stating that she never observed any signs of decline while working for him.

Psaki appeared on the “Mixed Signals” podcast and addressed concerns raised about Biden’s fitness during the June 2024 presidential debate. Despite the alarm, Psaki maintained that she never saw any decline in Biden’s abilities.

Following his withdrawal from the race the next month, Biden endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic nominee.

Although Psaki acknowledged that aging happens quickly, she emphasized that she did not witness any decline in Biden’s capabilities during her time in the White House.

Psaki, who left the White House in May 2022, mentioned that she had not seen Biden in person in the two and a half years leading up to the November election.

She also cautioned against using the term “cover-up” to describe how the White House responded to questions about Biden’s age, stating that it was a loaded term typically associated with criminal activities.

Psaki refrained from criticizing the media for not being more aggressive in covering the story about Biden’s health, suggesting that there may have been misinformation spread by right-wing sources.

Despite concerns raised about Biden’s fitness, Psaki expressed her belief that his legacy would be impacted by the events of the 2024 race.

Psaki is set to take on a more prominent role at MSNBC, hosting a program called “The Briefing” on weekdays at 9 p.m. ET.

Following the release of several books detailing the 2024 presidential race, author Chris Whipple argued in his book “Uncharted” that Biden’s inner circle ignored evidence of his decline in believing he was capable of serving another term.
