It’s finally happening! We’re getting a new Virtua Fighter!

Are you as impressed as I am with The Game Awards this year? The big news is the upcoming release of a new Virtua Fighter game, which has me really excited. If you grew up playing Sega games, you probably agree that Virtua Fighter was superior to Tekken. The fact that it will now compete with Tekken 8 is thrilling for fans of 3D fighting games.

The teaser trailer for the new Virtua Fighter game left us wanting more, with only a few details revealed. One key point is that the game is being developed by the same team behind the Yakuza series, which has a strong combat system inspired by Virtua Fighter. This makes them the perfect choice to revive the Virtua Fighter franchise.

So far, we’ve only seen Akira and Sarah Bryant in action in a sandy city setting, with Akira sporting a new look. The trailer ends by teasing an upcoming VF Direct event where more details will be shared.

Fans like myself have been eagerly awaiting a new Virtua Fighter game since Virtua Fighter 5. While the game is still playable on modern consoles, the online community is sparse. Hopefully, the new release will attract more players so I can enjoy some competitive matches.
