Is Civilization 7 cross-platform? | Digital Trends

In today’s modern gaming landscape, the success of a highly anticipated title like Sid Meier’s Civilization 7 can hinge on its ability to be played across multiple platforms. While some popular PC games, such as Valorant, opt for limited cross-platform support, others like Final Fantasy 14 embrace a fully inclusive approach. With Civilization 7 marking the series’ first simultaneous release on consoles and PC, the question remains: does it offer cross-platform support?

Is Civilization 7 cross-platform?

2K Games

Civilization 7 does offer cross-platform support, albeit with some limitations. The game allows for full crossplay between PlayStation, Xbox, PC, and Switch when using a 2K account. However, the number of players you can connect with in certain modes varies depending on your platform. On all platforms except the Switch, up to five players can join in the Antiquity & Exploration Ages mode, and up to eight in the Modern Age mode. Switch players, on the other hand, are restricted to four players in the Antiquity & Exploration mode and six in the Modern Age mode. Additionally, Switch players may be unable to play on map sizes of Standard or larger, imposing these limitations on any crossplay partners.

Cross-progression is more straightforward. By using your 2K Account, you can seamlessly transfer your progress across different platforms.
