Invincible Season 4 Potential Release Date, Plot, Cast And News

Fans of Invincible can rejoice, as the animated hit will be back with a fresh dose of gory clashes, family traumas, and weird alien creatures. Mark Grayson and the rest of the Earthlings won’t get even a moment of peace, as not only are the Viltrumites preparing for an invasion, but also the Sequids and, most surprisingly, demons from Hell.
Invincible season 3 featured the usual gruesome fights, alien invasions, and inter-dimensional travels. Many fans thought the plot would be devoted mainly to the fight against the Viltrumites. As it turned out, the creators were still setting up the stage for a future war – in the third season, only one Viltrumite appeared. However, he wreaked havoc even greater than Nolan in the season 1 finale.
Will there be a clash between Earthlings and Viltrumites in the fourth Invincible installment? We’ve gathered all the news and rumors about the next season of the Amazon Prime Video series.

When could Invincible season 4 be released?
The show’s fourth installment was confirmed in July 2024. It came as no surprise – the Mark Grayson series is a smash hit on Prime Video, and there’s still plenty of comic book material left to adapt.
For now, it’s unknown when season 4 will premiere, but we expect it to appear at the beginning of 2026 based on previous installments. The creators are aware of fans’ impatience. In season 2, they jokingly explained how complex the animation process is during a scene where Mark visits Comic-Con and talks to the writer of his favorite comic book and series.
The good news is that Robert Kirkman, author of the Invincible comic series, told Variety there will be no repeat of the two-year gap between seasons.
What will the plot of Invincible season 4 be about?
Spoilers for season 3 below.
For now, the creators haven’t announced an official plot description for season 4. However, we’ve prepared a list of seven key plot lines that we believe should appear in season 4.
Angstrom Levy’s revenge
After the gory fight in season 2, Mark was convinced that he had murdered the mad scientist, who blamed him for his misfortune. However, in season 3, Angstrom returned to get revenge on Invincible. This time, he arrived with a troop of Mark’s evil incarnations from other dimensions, who destroyed several cities and slaughtered many civilians. Earth’s superheroes eventually overcame the alternate Invincibles, and Mark once again beat Angstrom. But at the last moment, the scientist managed to run through the portal to another dimension, where three robotic doctors saved his life.
The mysterious creatures, however, seemed to have their own plans – they agreed to help Angstrom but demanded he work for them in return. In the comic books, they were once humans who inserted cybernetic equipment into their bodies to survive on the alternate Earth destroyed by their reckless doings. In the series, they want Angstrom to find them a new world to conquer and prey on its resources.
Therefore, in season 4, we expect the mad scientist to return, possibly with the cybernetic creatures ready to take control over Earth.

Viltrumite invasion
The invasion of a superhuman race is a major plot line in Invincible, but it unfolds slowly. In the season 3 finale, a cruel Viltrumite, Conquest, finally arrives on Earth to take over. This resulted in a brutal clash with Mark and Oliver, leading to more carnage in cities. In the end, Conquest was defeated by Mark and Atom Eve, who, being on the brink of death, unlocked her power to control organic matter.
As it turned out, the massacred Conquest didn’t die – Cecil imprisoned him in a secret base, hoping to drag information about the superhuman empire from the Viltrumite. It’s expected that, despite the countermeasures, Conquest will break free in the next season – perhaps he will start wreaking havoc on Earth again, or maybe he will try to escape to his planet to bring back a larger group of Viltrumites.
The search for weapons against the Viltrumites
As it turned out in season 2, the lame books Nolan wrote years earlier were memories of past adventures rather than sci-fi stories. In the novels, Omni-Man smuggled information about artifacts and beings powerful enough to injure the Viltrumites.
Among them appeared the Infinity Ray possessed by Space Racer. It’s a weapon that emits an unstoppable energy wave that can destroy anything. Another threat to the Viltrumites were the Rognarrs, lizard-like creatures inhabiting a planet with dense gravity, which made them develop extraordinary strength.
In season 3, there was no mention of these weapons. Therefore, we expect Mark to search for Space Racer and the Rognarrs in season 4 to persuade them to fight against the Viltrumites.

Nolan’s redemption arc
After the massacre on Earth, his stay on the planet Thraxa, and the reunion with Mark, Omni-Man was captured by a troop of Viltrumite who imprisoned him and sentenced to death for betrayal. However, Allen the Alien came to his aid and helped Nolan escape the prison, killing its guardians and two Viltrumites. In season 4, we believe that Nolan, filled with remorse and longing for his family, will join the fight against the Viltrumites.
Of course, remember that Nolan is very old, and the Viltrumite ideals run deep in him. As an ally, he can be unpredictable.
Threat from the Sequids
In season 2, after being rescued from the Sequids and returning from Mars, astronaut Rus tried to build his life anew. However, as he was cleaning up his apartment, he was again attacked by an octopus-like creature that had apparently managed to get to Earth.
In an Alien-like scene, Sequid entwined Rus and took over his body. However, in season 3, they stayed dormant – as it was revealed in the season finale, they hid in the sewers, slowly breeding and preparing an army. Thus, in season 4, Invincible will probably have to face an invasion of body-snatching space parasites.

Demons from Hell
The Earth depicted in Invincible is struggling with a multitude of villains and alien races trying to colonize it, and it looks like they will soon be joined by demons from Hell. The season 3 finale featured Damien Darkblood, a demon detective, who investigated the murder of Guardians of the Globe in season 1 but was sent back to the underworld by Cecil.
However, in the final episode of season 3, Darkblood unexpectedly returns – he contacts the demon overlord and offers to help him regain the “infernal throne”. The tool is to be a super-human dwelling on Earth – probably referring to Mark.
In the comics, Darkblood, inspired by Watchmen’s Rorschach and Hellboy, disappeared from the plot quickly. As it turns out, Robert Kirkman, comic book and series creator, regrets that he didn’t develop the demon detective’s plot. In a statement to Cartoonist Kayfabe, Kirkman said:
One thing I really regret is I never had an adventure where the superheroes went to Hell. There’s been so many superhero comics where they gotta go fight Mephisto or something, and I just never got around to that. (…) The Damien Darkblood character in Invincible was there so I could eventually do a story like that, and I never got around to it.
