IndiGo nominates Isidro Porqueras as Chief Operating Officer, Wolfgang Prock-Schauer to retire, ET TravelWorld

IndiGo, India’s leading airline, has announced the nomination of Isidro Porqueras for the position of Chief Operating Officer (COO), effective November 1, 2024, pending regulatory approvals. Porqueras will succeed Wolfgang Prock-Schauer, who will retire later this year after seven successful years at the helm of IndiGo’s operations.

Porqueras brings over 25 years of leadership experience in operations, commercial strategy, and finance, having joined IndiGo in April 2024 as Chief of Transformation. He has since been involved in key operational projects. Before IndiGo, Porqueras served as COO at Volotea, one of Europe’s fastest-growing airlines, and has worked with prominent organizations like McKinsey and Uralita.

Pieter Elbers, Chief Executive Officer, IndiGo, praised Prock-Schauer for his remarkable 40-year career in aviation, including 15 years in Indian aviation. “On behalf of the Managing Director and the Board of Directors, I want to deeply thank Wolfgang for his outstanding leadership, especially during the challenging COVID-19 pandemic. His contributions have been pivotal in shaping IndiGo’s growth and operational success.”
Welcoming Porqueras, Elbers added, “We are delighted to have Isidro step into this new role. With his extensive expertise in operations and proven track record, he will play a vital role in driving IndiGo’s strategic vision as we expand our business, especially in international markets.”On his appointment, Porqueras said, “I am excited and humbled to join IndiGo at such a crucial time in its growth. I look forward to working with the talented team here and building on the strong foundation laid by Mr. Prock-Schauer to achieve further operational success and innovation.”
