India, Nepal ink 10 MoUs worth Nepalese Rs.625 million for community development projects

India and Nepal have recently signed 10 Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) for high-impact community development projects in Nepal. These projects will be funded by Indian assistance totaling Nepalese Rs.625 million, as stated in an official release.

The agreements, signed on April 1, 2025, focus on development in the education, health, and cultural sectors, according to a press release from the Indian embassy in Kathmandu.

“These High Impact Community Development Projects (#HICDP) are being implemented with financial assistance from the Government of India, with a total cost of Nepalese Rs.625 million allocated to the education, health, and culture sectors under the ‘Nepal-India Development Cooperation’ initiative,” the embassy stated in a post.

The projects aim to enhance educational, healthcare, and cultural facilities for the people of Nepal. They include the construction of three schools, one monastery, one e-library at a school, and two health post buildings.

India has undertaken over 573 HICDPs in Nepal since 2003, with 495 projects already completed.

The official release emphasized that these projects demonstrate India’s ongoing support for Nepal’s growth and development by strengthening infrastructure in priority sectors.
