In cute throwback RPG Super Dungeon Muncher the dungeon is being eaten by a monster

Recently, there seems to be a trend of monstrous eating mechanics in games. From carnivorous post-Soviet elevators to retro fantasy RPGs that devour themselves, the gaming world is full of surprises. In Super Dungeon Muncher, you play as a small hero navigating through a corridor-shaped map filled with traps, platforms, coins, and creatures. The twist? A red monster, known as the Muncher, is devouring the entire level behind you.

Similar to The Maw, the Muncher operates in its own time and physics realm. While you and other creatures move turn by turn on a grid, the Muncher devours everything in real-time, reaching out to consume the map. Your goal is to outpace the Muncher while fulfilling typical RPG tasks like purchasing weapons, finding keys, and overcoming obstacles. You can even distract the Muncher by feeding it less appetizing items like toilets.

Super Dungeon Muncher is now available on Steam, with plans for release on Itch.io and Google Play. For a different gaming experience, consider exploring games by former L.A. Noire developer Jenn Sandercock.
