Immersive Web Company Infinite Reality Raises $3 Billion From a Private Investor
Infinite Reality, a company dedicated to developing an engine for creating immersive web content with WebXR support, has recently secured an impressive $3 billion in funding. This substantial amount will enable the company to further its mission of shaping the future of the internet.
Established in 2019, Infinite Reality is best known for its flagship product, iR Studio. This innovative engine allows for the creation of immersive websites where visitors can interact as avatars within a virtual environment. Sites built with iR Studio inherently support multi-user and WebXR functionalities, making them accessible on any XR headset that supports WebXR through a standard web browser.
The recent funding round has increased the company’s valuation to $12.25 billion, a remarkable achievement in the tech startup landscape. Typically, a startup valued at $1 billion is considered a ‘unicorn,’ highlighting the rarity of Infinite Reality’s valuation.
What sets this funding round apart is the involvement of a single private investor, a deviation from the norm where investments of this magnitude usually involve investment firms or major corporations. The investor, known for their focus on global technology and real estate investments, remains undisclosed.
Despite the investor’s anonymity, the substantial investment suggests a high likelihood of belonging to one of the world’s wealthiest individuals. The investor’s decision was influenced by Infinite Reality CEO’s vision for data ownership, particularly crucial in the era of advancing AI technologies.
Infinite Reality’s CEO, John Acunto, expressed his excitement over the funding’s validation of the company’s mission to empower businesses with control over their data. The company aims to revolutionize the immersive internet space and redefine ownership in the digital age.
While Infinite Reality focuses on immersive web experiences, its expansion through strategic acquisitions like Zappar, Action Face, and Ethereal Engine, as well as seemingly unrelated ventures like RektGlobal and the Drone Racing League, adds a layer of complexity to its growth trajectory.
The substantial investment from a private individual and Infinite Reality’s diverse acquisitions present a unique and intriguing narrative for the company’s future.
